The Cruikshank Company Inc.

Client: Berkshire Partners
Project/product: Berkshire Partners website

The project
In the late 1990s, Berkshire Partners -- a Boston-based private equity firm -- set out to redo most aspects of their corporate identity. They began with logos and letterheads, moved on to their brochure, and then tackled their website. In each case, Berkshire's existing materials were strong, which raised the bar for us. In the case of the website, we had to imagine interactive components that would complement (and not simply restate) the brochure.

Excerpt
From the beginning, Berkshire has understood the advantages of having a generalist outlook. We talk with all kinds of companies, searching for strong dynamics, impressive management teams, and good ideas. We've taken on new challenges in unknown industries, and turned these into worthwhile ventures.

Yet we've also become industry experts, through investing in different sectors over a period of time. Today, we have deep knowledge in five extensive specialty areas: manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation, retailing and related services, and business services. As our experience grows, we bring more value to every partnership, in these and other fields.

The bottom line? We have expertise, but it doesn't limit us. We welcome imaginative new ideas that represent exciting new opportunities.
