Client: The Campaign for MIT
and the MIT Alumni Fund
Project/product: Giving to MIT website

The project
In conjunction with an ambitious capital campaign, MIT's development officials hired us to help combine two existing web sites an annual fund site, and a campaign-related site into one "master site." Although this made good sense from a user's point of view, it posed significant mapping and writing challenges. In addition, MIT was determined to avoid a dry, "unpopulated" site, insisting instead that key messages by delivered through stories about real donors.

Excerpt
WHY GIVE?
From its inception, MIT has been an institution that has crashed through preconceptions, broken down boundaries and staked out new frontiers.

The result? MIT has changed the world. You'll find evidence of the Institute's impact almost anywhere you look. That evidence ranges from the tangible to the abstract: from rayon to chaos theory, from artificial intelligence to the World Wide Web. It doesn't much matter whether you measure MIT's impact in terms of yourself, your children, the trajectory of science and engineering or the world at large--MIT has broken the mold, rewritten the rules and made new things possible.

MIT views the quality of our shared human future on Earth as an enormous challenge--one that is both massively difficult and overridingly important. Because of MIT's distinctive culture and history, exceptionally gifted faculty and students, and an unparalleled power to convene leaders of government, industry and academia from around the world, the Institute now has a unique opportunity to act. And act it must, because the world needs the kind of leadership that MIT is uniquely poised to provide.

You can have an impact on MIT--and by extension, the world--both through your generous financial support and your continuing intellectual engagement with the Institute.
